Facebook feed feature is working! Lots of hoops but seems stable.
The thumbnail issue with the main feeds is ongoing. Lots of techie talk, no action.
WordPress did a ridiculous overhaul of their software to incorporate a ‘Gutenberg’ interface, one which is makes the site more of a design tool. It made things harder for a while, and it’s an ongoing disaster, but it has been sidestepped for the moment.

Technical issues with the main feed plugin, which stopped displaying thumbnail images of the articles in the feed. This looks ugly. Put a default thumbnail in, which works, but it also ugly. Have a ticket into the software developers, but they have other issues with a new update/overhaul by Facebook.
Removed the weekly blog … going to move it into a new Blog section with a selection of horse blogs (if they have RSS, more and more don’t)

Have been reworking the Facebook Clean Round page to feed onto the main site. Facebook just did an update and blew out the settings, but some WordPress techs are working on it.

Redid the twitter account to allow a front-page feed. Calling it “Center Court” for now. It’s another dimension.
The ethos of the site was refreshed, in the sense of what Clean Round! can be.
The site was set up to cover the new Nations Cup series the FEI promised after receiving buttloads of euros from their Arab sponsors to do just that. By strenous and immediate sustained effort by the FEI they were able to completely consumed the sponsorship without any positive effect to the sport, and destroy it completely in the name of the undone change. So that was interesting.
Though the site hung out in cyberspace doing its RSS auto-feeds, the feeds were pretty good … so the site’s been a hobby of mine (John Royce). I’ve been just updating it and making it a little more stable.
Reevaluating the site, it seems viewer figures are steady, but technology is moving on. Still seems valuable to highlight horses and horse sports in the media. So … planning to add some more interactivity to the site.

Been a while since an update … but the site has not been idle! We now have … SSL! The little green padlock the imperium hath degreed by way of making your site look disreputable and yellow-tinted.
As I understand it, we used to be legit, and now we are again. The redirection of all spare time for the site for a couple of weekends has …

Site was hacked late last fall, still cleaning up. It took over a week to get the site back. Weak security at Hostgator; sad because they were good once. Now at A2 Hosting. Costs a bit more, but better security.
October 16, 2016
Site has been on autopilot in recent months (too much life going on!) The feeds still refresh continually.
Cleaned database and placed plugin updates to automatic.
January 1, 2016
The first site blog post was issued and shared, both on the front page and in social media. Seems to be working.
On the backend: over the past two weeks, the news feeds have been refreshed and re-implemented. Recent Archive page recreated for each news category and linked to homepage columns. The Org page was removed, but its homepage section expanded and refreshed. Menus updated and/or replaced.
December 13, 2015
The site is back up and updated with a new backend feed system. This was required as many communication technology sources and systems have recently been terminated, including the feeds from what used to be revolutionary software, Youtube’s Pipelines, and the sudden abandonment of what was the main display “app” (plugin).

The site is on temporary hiatus for redevelopment … progress will be noted in this space, with the goal of having most major changes completed by the end of June 2014.
Clean Round! met the original goal to archive coverage of the 1st year of the new sponsorship of the FEI Nations Cup Show Jumping series by Furusiyya. The next phase will put the site on a more current basis and focus on interactivity and an improved platform for contributors.

April 21, 2013
Clean-Round.com was launched on April 21, 2013 as a project to promote the humane and beneficial sport of Show Jumping. Like the sport itself, this site is not fully developed but rather the start of a developing experiment in bringing horses to the public in the modern age.
The initial goal is to highlight coverage of the sport and its related issues. Clean-Round.com is not a ‘breaking news’ site but a timely aggregator and archive of links.
